@chevyjeffgordon plus the HANS device had just started being used in auto racing at that time. It was only 2000 I believe when Indycar drivers became required to wear em. In stock car racing, the HANS device literally had just been introduced.

it’s sad how some people automatically hate any driver that does anything against Dale Jr. Dale Jr has made a lot of bonehead moves on the track, like in the 2009 Daytona 500…. every one of those drivers should have been punching him in the face.

@hmcgill911 also if you knew anything about dale, you wouldn’t even let the thought about “had he taken the time to realize he was a human and he could die out there” cross your mind. dale was literally phobic about death, and he was probably the least likely person on the face of the earth to take death for granted. he had a problem in this area, but it’s the exact opposite of the problem you’re suggesting he had.

@hmcgill911 first: the only time dale unbuckled his seatbelt in the race, he had a pinched blood vessel in his brain, and was very close to a stroke. second: only 3 drivers had hans devices in the 2001 daytona 500. that means by your logic we should have seen 40 deaths. third: every great race driver across all racing series does whatever it takes to win, right or wrong: ayrton senna, michael shumacher, and hell-lee petty used to screw wingnuts in the side of his car to tear the other cars up!

@LastMartinFanLeft Ward Burton was the first driver I really followed. He had class, he didn’t take things for granted. He gave it is all when he raced.

@hmcgill911 Dale Jr. is worse than Ward Burton, if you want to say it that way.

@rocketcentral CHeap shot my ass. You are just like a lot of other Earnhardt fans, you think your driver was God. Sure, he was a good driver but a total ASS when it comes to racing. he didn’t give a damn if he put someone in the wall and rather or not they walked way.

@rocketcentral SR, thought his was too good to wear a HANS device. He thought he was too good to keep his safety belts buckled until the end of the race. He raced like he was some sort of God. Had he taken the time to realize that he was human and he could die out there, then he wouldn’t have been killed and could still be racing today. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t dislike Dale Sr, I just think he stupid mistake is what killed him. Ego.

@rocketcentral It’s not called taking a cheap shot, its called having enough guts to open my mouth and speak what a lot of others are so damn afraid to say. Ego gets people Killed on the tracks. Remember that

Dale Jr is like his daddy, those two have no class once so ever. Never have, never will. I would rather pull for Ward than Jr anyway.

I never understood how Ward ran into sponsorship trouble. I would have thought he could have signed a lifetime deal with Hook on Phonics.

    @SaintBEEP the stats dont lie.

jr: 18 cup wins (including a daytona 500 like ward.
all star race win. 2 bud shootout wins. 2 busch championships. 22 busch wins.

    ward: 5 cup wins(daytona 500)
    4 busch wins. (whooptee doo).

im right. its a proven fact that jr is better than ward. there is no disputing that

@HBKshowstopper635 then why can’t Junior do nothing but blow Hendrick motors, sure, Ward is retired now but i believe that consistantly Ward could do a better job at what he can do. this is just my opinion, if you want to spas at me go ahead, you aren’t going to get a reply

@SaintBEEP to say ward burton is better than jr is just total bullshit. jr’s success is over 6 time more than ward burton. ward burton was a nothing driver. the second coming of greg sacks

@HBKshowstopper635 that’s an example, i have seen Junior wreck a 15th place car trying to finish 7th, whereas in that same race, Ward Burton had a 16th place day going and finished there, Junior finished i think 30-something. you tell me who is doing better regardless of whether 16th is good or not.

@SaintBEEP the reason ward never wrecked a 10th place car trying to finish 5th is because he hardly ever had the chance. he was never that good. the races he won were just luck and nothing more
